What is propolis?

Propolis is the name for the gummy and resinous substance secreted by the yolk and cortex of some plants, they are processed with glandular secretions from bees to obtain the final product known as propolis. It is used for various needs of the hive, such as strongly pasting or breakable moving parts that could fall, or preventing possible infections within the hive, thus forming a sort of barrier at its entrance.
